Pigging Services

Pipeline Pigging refers to the practice of using devices or implements known as ‘pigs’ to perform various cleaning, clearing, maintenance, inspection, dimensioning, process and pipeline testing operations on new and existing pipelines.

This process is done without necessarily interfering with the flow of product in the pipe. Pipeline pigs are used in a number of different industries including oil & gas, lube oil, chemical plants and hygienic applications such as pharmaceutical or food.  Selecting the right pipeline pig for a particular application requires extensive experience, something that Inline provides. The ‘pigs’ can be of differing materials and configurations such Polyurethane Open Cell Foam, Cast Polyurethane and Rubber. The pipeline pig is inserted into the pipe using a pig trap, which is typically oversized to accommodate the tight fitting pig.

While buildup in a pipeline can cause transmittal slows or even plugging of the pipeline, cracks or flaws in the line can be disastrous. A form of flow assurance for oil and gas pipelines and flowlines, pipeline pigging (using foam or gel pigs) ensures the line is running smoothly. Pigging in the Oil & Gas industry is a form of flow assurance where pipeline pigs are used to purge, clean, and/or inspect pipelines to keep them running smoothly…
